Appendix iii: Tutor / Mentor Registration

Tutor must be at least 18 years of age and is a resident of the Republic of Singapore. Foreigners must be eligible to legally work in Singapore. The Provider reserves all rights to reject or refuse any registration without giving any reason or cause.

1. Upon successful registration, a login password will be provided where the tutor will be responsible to regularly up-keep their personal profile and webpage, where applicable.
2. The Tutor is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the account password and the student or parent’s personal information. The tutor is obliged to inform the Provider of any unauthorized access to the account or any possible breaches of security, as soon as it comes to the tutor’s attention.
3. The information and qualifications you provide and publish in your tutor account should be factual and accurate, without misleading the Provider or the student. You are fully responsible for any issues arising from the information or content you post or made public in the Provider’s webpages or your personal website link where applicable, regardless if they are deemed to be approved or verified by the Provider.
4. The Provider or student may request for the original copies of your personal information and documentations for verification to ensure authenticity if required. The tutor is expected to demonstrate a minimum level of competency to be able to provide lessons in your specific field of tutoring.
5. The tutor explicitly agrees that specific information provided by the tutor / mentor during registration may be posted and displayed publicly at the discretion of the Provider via various communication portals. Personal data such as NRIC, Passport, Address, Date of Birth and copy of Certificates will remain strictly confidential and will not be shared, unless required by law.
6. The Provider reserves the right, without your permission to access, edit, remove any content or terminate your tutor account at any time without any reason, prior notice or consent.
7. When the student or parent provides any feedback or comment, the Provider has the right and the full discretion to use, edit or post this information as testimonials for marketing purposes.
8. The Provider does NOT take any responsibilities for the student or parent’s conduct and behavior during any communication or tutoring assignments. The tutor is advised to take personal safety into consideration when tutoring at student’s venue.
9. Unless specifically permitted by TUTOR-SEARCH.COM, you should NOT post any of your personal contact details in the tutor’s ‘marketing space’ or personal webpage.
10. Personal contact details can be displayed for tutors who subscribe to full webpage service or direct-link to personal or corporate website. NO marketing fee or commission is payable to TUTOR-SEARCH.COM for such service subscribers.
11. On an on-going basis, the tutor may engage TUTOR-SEARCH.COM to receive online payment from the students on the tutor’s behalf. A 10% handling fee will be deducted from the amount received which is inclusive of any bank or credit card charges. The online payment from the tutor’s students need not be sourced from TUTOR-SEARCH.COM. The total amount received annually for the tutor will be provided as the tutor’s “annual income statement” which the tutor can use for Income Tax reporting purposes.
12. By registering with the Provider, the tutor is not automatically guaranteed any assignment. However, once you have agreed on a tutoring assignment with the student, the “Fee per Lesson” is Non-Negotiable for the first four lessons which should include any regular transport charge by the tutor.
13. With the exception of certain subjects at the full discretion of the Provider, all tutors of TUTOR-SEARCH.COM are required to at least guarantee their tutoring services with a “5 Days Money-Back Guarantee” with or without a free trial on the first lesson. The student has the right to withdraw or discontinue WITHOUT providing any reason after attending the first lesson. The tutor further agrees NOT to charge or claim any fees or incidental charges from the student or parent or the Provider if the student decides to withdraw or discontinue.
14. In situation where the tutor provides the first lesson at the student’s venue, a $20 transport reimbursement will be levied from the student’s deposit if the student decides to discontinue lesson with the same tutor within the first 5 days. The transport reimbursement cannot be charged if the assignment is successful or when the student is deemed to continue lesson after the “5 Days Money-Back Guarantee period”.
15. After the student has attended the first lesson with the tutor and decides to continue with the same tutor or did not ask for the ‘Money-Back Guarantee’ refund within the 5 days period, the Provider will deduct only one lesson ‘Marketing & Advertisement’ fee as commission (or 25% of the first four lessons) from the student’s deposit.
16. Where the student had opted for “Search Assist” earlier or when Provider’s assistance is required to co-ordinate on the first lesson, an additional S$20 is payable to the Provider. This amount will be levied from the deposit paid by the student before the net balanced amount due to the tutor can be remitted.
17. Tutor should NOT at any point collect the first payment from the student or collect on the Provider’s behalf, even when offered by the student or parent. Failing which, the Provider may terminate the tutor’s account or take legal action against the tutor as appropriate for the deliberate violation of the Terms and Conditions herein.
18. If the tutor did not show up or inform the prospective student or parent on a change of date or time for the first lesson with a valid reason, the tutor account may be terminated by the Provider immediately. In addition, the student or parent has the right to pursue any incidental charges against the tutor for ‘no-show’.
19. TUTOR-SEARCH.COM provides a FREE “Job-Post” service for registered tutors who are keen to be contacted by prospective employers such as learning centers or private schools. The tutor may choose to participate or opt-out of this service at his or her tutor profile page at any point of time. By participating in the FREE Job-Post, the tutor is not automatically guaranteed any employment. The Provider does NOT collect any commission for any successful employment. The Provider reserves the right, and will have NO obligation to monitor and will NOT be responsible for any communication, transaction or dispute which might arise during and after the interaction between the tutor and the employer.
